West 10 Interactive Ltd. is a new company that will specialise in the delivery of on-line auctions (similar to those of eBay, Yahoo Auctions, and QXL). Its remit is to sell modern collectables and antiquities to an international user base, supplied by a group of well known and reputable dealers.
The Image Workshop is providing all of the technical and development expertise for delivery of the West 10 systems.
Using Allaire ColdFusion and Microsoft database technology the complete e-Commerce system is being built from scratch, with a timetable of less than 2 months. The system includes a comprehensive user management system, on-line conference forums, simple automated "dealer listing pages" (allowing participating dealers their own on-line presence) and e-mail alerting systems (notifying registered users of news and events that may interest them). Credit card transactions are handled transparently using automated clearing systems to ensure that all transactions are verified and processed as soon as the user confirms their credit card details for a sale.
The system is now on-line in a preliminary form and began trading on 10 May 1999. The site features a range of lots from a number of recognised dealers, attracting a rapidly expanding user base.
