The University of Warwick offers a range of conference facilities catering for many different types of corporate event. These range from 1 day training courses for 10 delegates to weeklong conferences for over 100 delegates. It was felt the professional nature and high quality of the service provided at Scarman, Arden, and Radcliffe House should be reflected in the Conference Centre's web site.
The Image Workshop produced an elegant and eye-catching web site design that captured the overall corporate branding of the University of Warwick Conferences, without losing the unique feel of each of the 3 centres.
The careful use of graphics, including simple animation and Dynamic HTML led to a site that not only looks good and performs well across many different web browser platforms, but can also be used as a marketing and sales tool by the Centre's staff at exhibitions and conferences. Highlights of the site include a simple event booking information system and an information request system, plus virtual QuickTime VR tours of the Conference Centre.
The booking system walks users through a number of simple questions, then delivers a costing estimate for their event before giving the opportunity to request more information from the Centres' sales staff. By keeping the interface to the system very simple and efficient, users are encouraged to enter a great deal of information about their requirements which can then be passed on to the Centres, offering a wealth of market research material.
The QuickTime VR tour allows users to gain an almost hands-on feel for the quality of the Conference Centre through the use of photographic images presented in a user controlled 3D panorama.
Work is on going to extend the web site to cater for the entire University of Warwick Conference Park and the associated University of Warwick Conferences organisation.
