Kaleden.com Inc. is a new American company specialising in the sale of antiques and collectibles on-line. Alongside a major on-line sales system, Kaleden.com offers users a one-stop-shop for information and resources regarding antiques and collectibles in Canada, and America. These resources include syndicated magazine content, antique mall directories, and up-to-date antique price guides. The commerce model revolves around charging a subscription to sellers rather than charging on a per transaction basis.

The Image Workshop provided all of the technical and development expertise for the initial delivery of the Kaledne.com systems.

Using Allaire ColdFusion and Microsoft database technology the complete e-Commerce system and information management and distribution system was built from scratch (similar in many aspects to the West-10 Interactive Ltd. system described below). The solution includes comprehensive user management, tracking, personalisation, and profiling systems; news systems; on-line publications; information about Antique malls; and price guides. It allows dealers to manage their own on-line inventories, and integrates with third-party systems to offer facilities such as maps to individual malls and dealers.

In addition to the on-line aspects of the site, The Image Workshop managed the development of a number of off-line tools (Windows 98 applications) to support the Kaleden.com site. These included applications to mange inventory, dealers, and malls. All these applications incorporate solutions to many of the users (e.g. mall owners) business requirements.

The system was launched at the end of November 1999 with an extensive inventory of over 6,000 sale items, content from over 20 publications (totalling over 7,200 articles), and around 100 active dealers. The price guides alone featured over 40,000 previous sales. These figures are growing on a daily basis as Kaleden.com Inc. continues it's aggressive marketing campaign.

The Image Workshop has now handed the Kaleden.com project back over to Kaleden.com Inc. so they can manage the continued site development internally.
