Capita Educational Services is a company specialising the supply and management of IT solutions for the Educational sector. Their latest project "The Learning Network" aims to deliver a powerful training aid to teachers.
A core component of the product is the on-line conference facilities. These are designed to promote communication and shared learning among teachers on the program, as well as offering a valuable forum for regular contact with the trainers on this "distance learning" style programme.
The Image Workshop worked closely with Capita to deliver a solution built on the "FirstClass" conferencing tool from SoftArc International Ltd. The conference is accessed exclusively over the Internet using a standard web browser, The Image Workshop's brief being to customise the standard FirstClass interface to provide a powerful yet extremely friendly and easy to use tool.
The project has been a great success and work is ongoing to provide additional functionality to the system. In particular, The Image Workshop is developing a number of management tools to allow Capita to integrate the FirstClass system with their corporate sales system. Other projects focus on the delivery of enhanced functionality to the system from the user end including systems for the submission and management worksheets and questionnaires completed by teachers on the programme.
