Benoy Architects Project Management Intranet

With offices located around the country, Benoy Architects has a need to share project management information between several disparate locations. This is to be achieved through a powerful corporate Intranet solution. The company's Project Management, and later its Electronic Document Management system (both developed previously by The Image Workshop) are to be integrated into an Intranet system allowing a smooth workflow between different offices.

The Image Workshop has advised Benoy on the correct choice of Intranet technology to allow the most cost-effective migration from its existing Visual Basic/Microsoft Access information systems to an open web-based solution.

ColdFusion is being used as an enabling technology to allow an almost exact recreation of the existing system within a web browser interface. The adoption of an Internet solution leads to an extremely short development period for the new distributed system and the elimination of complex data synchronisation and access problems.

The final system will be available to users via a secure corporate Intranet, ensuring data integrity whilst allowing authorised users access to the system from any location.

Phase one of the project, the migration of the Project Management database is about to enter development. Once this is in place, with the complete Intranet infrastructure to support it, The Image Workshop will continue to migrate the Electronic Document Management database. This will make all of Benoy's core information management systems available to all of its offices, as well as to staff working from home or off site.
